How to Patch MediaWiki

Here are the steps to patch MediaWiki

Use Putty and connect to server
Type – cd domains
Type – cd domainname.com
Type – cd html
Type – cd w
Type – wget https://releases.wikimedia.org/mediawiki/1.28/mediawiki-1.28.1.patch.gz
Type – gunzip mediawiki-1.28.1.patch.gz
Type – patch -p1 – -dry-run -i mediawiki-1.28.1.patch
If successful, then type – patch -p1 -i mediawiki-1.28.1.patch
Check Special:Version page to confirm new version number
Delete patch file via FTP
