As I was reading the WebsitePanel user guide, I found the sections that talked about folder and file permissions. I needed to change the file permissions on the log file I was testing but wasn’t sure if I clicked the right settings.
So, I did some additional research to figure out the difference. I found a knowledgebase article titled “Changing File and Folder Permissions”. It mentioned that the domain user was for the browsing user and Network Service was for the application user. I also sent a support ticket to ReliableSite.Net to ask for clarification. The tech said the Network Service is what the website runs under when it is a shared application pool and the domain runs a dedicated application pool.
So, I did some testing. The logging would only work under the domain user.
