I had been used a service called Twitterfeed to automatically post from WordPress to Twitter and Facebook. But, then I got an email that they were closing down. So, started searching for an alternative. I found a WordPress plug-in that would accomplish the tasks called NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster. Below is the steps to configure the plugin.
- In plugin settings, click Add New Account and select Twitter. There is then a great set of instructions for Twitter.
- Login into Twitter account.
- Go to developer webpage
- Create new app
- Enter info
- set permissions
- Create access token
- Copy info to plugin settings
- In plugin settings, click Add New Account and select Twitter. There is then a great set of instructions for Facebook.
- Login into Facebook using a real Facebook account and not the account used for a page.
- Add a New app
- Select basic setup
- Enter info
- Go Settings and add Platform
- select website
- Enter site URL and App Domain and Save changes
- Go App Review and say yes to make public
- Copy info to plugin settings and update Settings
- Confirm real Facebook account is an admin on the Facebook page
- Authorize your Facebook account
- Set posts to public
If everything looks good, try a test by creating a test post.
