I noticed when I put a link to my home page in Facebook, the automatic preview that appeared didn’t look that good. I did some searching and found two helpful articles (see below). The first article mentioned a number of meta tags that needed to have data in the HEAD section of the HTML code. The second mentioned a Facebook tool to check what Facebook is seeing.
I wondered how to add this information. I first thing I did was add a Featured Image to the page in WordPress. I realized I should be doing this regardless. The second was I checked the Yoast SEO plugin setting for that page and of course there was a social tab. I added for Facebook a title, description and image. Very cool. I went back to the Facebook tool and tried again. No change. But, then I noticed a button to “Fetch new scrape information”. That worked. I then tested again in Facebook and added a new link and it showed the new data.
